More About Marble

Marble Pavers

Marble Pavers are a popular choice for outdoor paving as they are durable and attractive. They can withstand heavy foot traffic, extreme weather conditions and general wear and tear. Marble Pavers are available in many soothing colours with intricate veining patterns. They add a touch of sophistication to both indoor and outdoor areas and are used to create unique and elegant design spaces.

They have a natural texture and non-slip surface finish, which makes them a safe option for areas that are frequently wet or exposed to moisture. Marble Pavers are easy to maintain and require minimal cleaning since they do not absorb stains and are resistant to fire and scratches. With proper installation and maintenance, Marble Pavers can last for decades, making them a cost-effective investment for any exterior space.

Marble Pavers of 30 mm thickness can be used in a variety of outdoor settings, including patios, walkways backyards and pool areas. These pavers are eco-friendly and sustainable making them a responsible choice for environmentally conscious homeowners.

Marble Tiles

Marble Tiles are known for their luxurious and elegant appearance. They are resilient and long-lasting and can withstand medium foot traffic and regular wear and tear. Marble tiles come in a wide range of colours, patterns and finishes, which makes them a versatile choice for any interior design style, from classic to modern. Marble Tiles are relatively easy to maintain and require minimal upkeep.

They are a hygienic option for indoor spaces because they do not harbour bacteria and allergens. Marble Tiles in 15 mm thickness create a stunning look for facades, indoor floors and walls. Regarded as a luxurious material that home buyers highly desire, they have the potential to enhance the resale worth of your property.

Marble Pool Copings

Pool surrounds have coping covering the boundary of the pool as a protective measure for swimmers. They provide a safe and secure surface reducing the chances of injury while getting in and out of the pool. Marble Pool Copings come in 30 mm thickness and can easily withstand medium to heavy foot traffic. They offer functional benefits while giving a captivating look to the swimming pool area.

Our Marble Pool Copings come in two styles. One is Drop Edge, which forms a 90-degree vertical drop, giving the pool a sharp, sleek look. The other is Bullnose which has rounded edges and gives a softer look and offers superior safety to pool users.

Finishes of Marble

Marble comes in a variety of finishes.

  • Polished: This is a common finish for Marble, which results in a glossy, reflective surface that highlights the natural veining and colour of the stone.
  • Honed: A Honed finish gives a smooth, matte surface with a slight sheen. This finish comes by grinding the surface of Marble with a series of finer abrasives.
  • Brushed: Brushed Marble has a slightly rough texture that comes by brushing the surface of the stone with a coarse wire brush. This finish is often used for exterior applications as it provides a non-slip surface.
  • Tumbled: Tumbled Marble has a worn, antique look with rounded edges and a slightly rough surface. This finish is achieved by tumbling the Marble in a machine with sand, water and rocks.
  • Flamed: Flamed Marble has a rough, textured surface that comes by exposing the Marble to high heat and then quickly cooling it with water. This finish is often used for exterior applications due to its non-slip surface.
  • Anti-Slip: This finish is commonly used for exterior applications such as paving stones, walls and cladding because of its durability and slip-resistant qualities.

Each finish of Marble has its unique look and feel, and choosing the right finish depends on the desired aesthetic and the intended use of the natural stone.

Installation & Maintenance Tips

Marble pavers and tiles exude a one-of-a-kind opulence and are a top favourite when it comes to plush flooring solutions. With their intricate veining and luxurious finish, they have been a staple for outdoor areas, indoor flooring and wall applications. To ensure the longevity and aesthetics of Marble pavers and tiles, proper installation and maintenance are essential.

Here are some tips for installing and maintaining Marble:

Installation Tips

  • Prepare the surface: Ensure that your space where Marble will be installed is clean, level and free from rubble. A proper and structurally sound base will lay a solid and stable base for your Marble pavers or tiles and prevent tripping due to uneven surfaces.
  • Use heavy-duty adhesive: A effective adhesive is important when laying tiles over existing ones or on a wooden substrate. It holds the structure in place and avoids the tiles from moving over time. Choose a high-performance adhesive suitable for Marble stone installations for excellent binding power. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for proper mixing proportions and application.
  • Grouting: Select a grout specifically designed for Marble. Avoid using acidic or harsh cleaners before you begin grouting to prevent damage to the stone’s surface. Ensure the tiles or pavers are well set, wait for a minimum of 24 hours after applying the adhesive for it to dry completely. Choose a neutral grout as coloured ones may stain the surface. After applying the grout, scrape off the extra before it starts to solidify.
  • Sealing: Before and after grouting, apply a penetrating sealer designed for Marble stone. Sealing creates a shield and helps protect the stone from stains, moisture immersion and any other damage. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions or installers’ recommendations for frequency of application. The general rule of thumb is every 2 years.
  • Allow for Natural Movement: Due to its inherent properties, Marble may expand and contract in response to fluctuations in humidity and temperature. Leave proper and consistent spacing where expansion joints are required and allow space for this movement.

Maintenance Tips

  • Clean Regularly: Sweep or vacuum your Marble floors regularly to keep them clean and shining. Don’t let dirt or debris get collected on the surface. Occasionally clean with a soft cloth or sponge and a pH-neutral stone cleaner. Refrain from using any harsh chemicals as they can strip off the stone's sheen over time. Also, avoid acidic or vinegar-based cleaners as they can cause etching of the surface and damage its appearance.
  • Take prompt action for spills: Clean up wine, vinegar and citrus juice spills immediately to prevent staining on Marble. Blot with a soft absorbent cloth or paper tissue to dab the excess liquid. Don’t clean vigorously as it can spread the stain.
  • Avoid scrubbing: Hard washing natural stones is not recommended. Use a soft cloth or a non-scratchy brush for cleaning. Avoid scrubbing with rough cleaning pads, as they can scrap the stone and damage its surface over time.
  • Reseal Periodically: Marble needs periodic resealing to retain its luxurious appearance and sheen. Depending on the type of Marble and the amount of foot traffic your area receives, you may need to reseal the stone every 1-2 years. Follow the sealer’s instructions or seek professional help for accurate results.
  • Safeguard from heavyweights: While Marble floors are durable, still avoid dropping heavy objects or dragging furniture across the surface to prevent chipping or cracking. Use carpets and mats to preserve and prolong the life of your Marble pavers and tiles.
  • For outdoor use: If you have Marble pavers installed outdoors, for patio, front porch or pool areas, ensure that they are of correct thickness according to the use of the space. Alfresco and patio areas with low foot traffic work with 20mm thickness tiles while heavy-use pool decks need a thickness of 30mm or more. Also, ensure the right surface finish so that your Marble pavers can sustain all outdoor conditions with ease.

By following these installation and maintenance tips, you can keep your Marble surfaces looking stunning, durable and well-maintained for decades.
