Installation Tips

• Prepare the surface: Ensure that your space where Marble will be installed is clean, level and free from rubble. A proper and structurally sound base will lay a solid and stable base for your Marble pavers or tiles and prevent tripping due to uneven surfaces.
• Use heavy-duty adhesive: A effective adhesive is important when laying tiles over existing ones or on a wooden substrate. It holds the structure in place and avoids the tiles from moving over time. Choose a high-performance adhesive suitable for Marble stone installations for excellent binding power. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for proper mixing proportions and application.
• Grouting: Select a grout specifically designed for Marble. Avoid using acidic or harsh cleaners before you begin grouting to prevent damage to the stone’s surface. Ensure the tiles or pavers are well set, wait for a minimum of 24 hours after applying the adhesive for it to dry completely. Choose a neutral grout as coloured ones may stain the surface. After applying the grout, scrape off the extra before it starts to solidify.
• Sealing: Before and after grouting, apply a penetrating sealer designed for Marble stone. Sealing creates a shield and helps protect the stone from stains, moisture immersion and any other damage. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions or installers’ recommendations for frequency of application. The general rule of thumb is every 2 years.
• Allow for Natural Movement: Due to its inherent properties, Marble may expand and contract in response to fluctuations in humidity and temperature. Leave proper and consistent spacing where expansion joints are required and allow space for this movement.

Maintenance Tips

• Clean Regularly: Sweep or vacuum your Marble floors regularly to keep them clean and shining. Don’t let dirt or debris get collected on the surface. Occasionally clean with a soft cloth or sponge and a pH-neutral stone cleaner. Refrain from using any harsh chemicals as they can strip off the stone's sheen over time. Also, avoid acidic or vinegar-based cleaners as they can cause etching of the surface and damage its appearance.
• Take prompt action for spills: Clean up wine, vinegar and citrus juice spills immediately to prevent staining on Marble. Blot with a soft absorbent cloth or paper tissue to dab the excess liquid. Don’t clean vigorously as it can spread the stain.
• Avoid scrubbing: Hard washing natural stones is not recommended. Use a soft cloth or a non-scratchy brush for cleaning. Avoid scrubbing with rough cleaning pads, as they can scrap the stone and damage its surface over time.
• Reseal Periodically: Marble needs periodic resealing to retain its luxurious appearance and sheen. Depending on the type of Marble and the amount of foot traffic your area receives, you may need to reseal the stone every 1-2 years. Follow the sealer’s instructions or seek professional help for accurate results.
• Safeguard from heavyweights: While Marble floors are durable, still avoid dropping heavy objects or dragging furniture across the surface to prevent chipping or cracking. Use carpets and mats to preserve and prolong the life of your Marble pavers and tiles.
• For outdoor use: If you have Marble pavers installed outdoors, for patio, front porch or pool areas, ensure that they are of correct thickness according to the use of the space. Alfresco and patio areas with low foot traffic work with 20mm thickness tiles while heavy-use pool decks need a thickness of 30mm or more. Also, ensure the right surface finish so that your Marble pavers can sustain all outdoor conditions with ease.
